Kareem Abdul Jabbar


Kareem AbdulJabbar is an American retired professional basketball player who playedseasons in the National Basketball Association for the Milwaukee Bucks and Los Angeles Lakers. During his career as a center, AbdulJabbar was a record sixtime NBA Most Valuable Player , a record 19time NBA AllStar, a 15time AllNBA selection, and an 11time NBA AllDefensive Team member. A member of six NBA championship teams as a player and two as an assistant coach, AbdulJabbar twice was voted NBA Finals MVP. In 1996, he was honored as one of the 50 Greatest Players in NBA History. NBA coach Pat Riley and players Isiah Thomas and Julius Erving have called him the greatest basketball player of all time.

Ferdinand Lewis Alcindor, Jr. was born in New York City, the only child of Cora Lillian, a department store price checker, and Ferdinand Lewis Alcindor, Sr., a transit police officer and jazz musician. At birth, he weighed 12160pounds 11160ounces and was 22160 inches long. He was raised as a Roman Catholic and attended Power Memorial Academy, a Catholic high school in Manhattan.
